Stained Glass Window Restoration and Encapsulation – Liverpool

12th August 2018

Before encapsulating stained glass windows restoration work on the original panes is often a necessity.

These stained glass windows in a house in Liverpool were badly bowed and needed some work in the studio before they could be encapsulated in double glazed units.

The full window casements were removed with the stained glass in them and the remaining frames were temporarily glazed to ensure the property was secure and water-tight.

New hardwood casements were crafted to take the double glazing and the stained glass windows were rebuilt in the glazing studio before encapsulation.

The new casements were fitted into the main window frame and the restored and encapsulated stained glass panels were fitted to the new casements. All windows were sealed to ensure weather tightness and the final decoration was left to the customer.

Check out the gallery below to see how it was done.
